Abstract

No population pharmacokinetic (PopPK) model of tranexamic acid +D41:N41(TXA) had previously been developed for the Chinese population, despite its wide use to reduce bleeding during cardiac surgery. This study built a PopPK model from perioperative plasma concentrations in Chinese patients undergoing cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass, receiving either high- or low-dose TXA regimens, using Phoenix NLME software. Body weight was identified as the primary covariate influencing TXA disposition, while cardiopulmonary bypass itself did not significantly affect the pharmacokinetics. This first Chinese PopPK model for TXA in cardiac surgery could support future individualized, target-controlled dosing strategies.

Phoenix NLME: First Chinese PopPK Model

Phoenix NLME built the first population PK model of tranexamic acid in Chinese cardiac surgery patients, isolating body weight as the key driver of exposure. Phoenix NLME is the engine behind population PK/PD modeling, combining the flexibility of code with the ease of a guided interface, part of a Phoenix platform now available through Phoenix Cloud, combining cloud speed with AI-powered workflows.
