The Growing Need for Biosimulation

The use of biosimulation (also called modeling and simulation or model-based drug development) in drug development has evolved from being a research nicety to a regulatory necessity. Today, biosimulation is leveraged across most development programs to understand and optimize key decisions related to safety, efficacy, dosing, special populations, and other labeling requirements. Further, the use of biosimulation as a percentage of an entire drug development program is growing, as the advances in both computing power and our understanding of biological sciences increases, thus propelling both the need and value of the technology.

Certara University’s Mission

Certara University is dedicated to shaping the future of healthcare innovation through biosimulation education. Certara University provides biosimulation education, skills, and expertise to everyone in the global healthcare industry. We recognize that continuing education in both the theory and practice of modeling and simulation in drug development is pivotal to achieving the many benefits of biosimulation. As a pioneer in this field, Certara has provided in-person classroom and customized training on biosimulation for many years, with programs designed specifically for both the novice and advanced user of its Phoenix WinNonlin and Phoenix NLME technologies. Additionally, the Company’s Simcyp division has provided in-depth workshops on its PBPK simulator in key pharmaceutical hub cities around the world. All of Certara University’s educators are world-class scientists with experience in consulting and the use of Certara software.

On Demand Content Available

Now, Certara University has expanded its educational reach via the introduction of an e-learning platform that will leverage the content delivered via the Company’s classroom training. Each on-demand course, which has been developed and narrated by experienced Certara University pharmacometricians, is organized into modules containing scientific concepts, exercises with real-world data, and evaluations to test understanding. The courses are self-paced, so that learners can start and stop their training to align with their schedule.  Plus, the on-demand course content will be available for ongoing review for a full year after purchase, making it ideal for the in-frequent software user.
