Abstract
Anemia from iron depletion is common in patients with hemodialysis-dependent stage 5 chronic kidney disease, and ferric pyrophosphate citrate (FPC) is a novel water-soluble iron complex designed to help maintain iron levels in this population. This study evaluated the pharmacokinetics and safety of intravenous FPC in healthy Chinese subjects and in hemodialysis patients, using two different administration methods, with pharmacokinetic parameters calculated using Phoenix WinNonlin. Serum iron concentration-time profiles were similar between administration methods, with peak concentrations reached at comparable times, and only a few mild adverse events were reported across both populations. FPC demonstrated a favorable pharmacokinetic and safety profile, supporting its potential use as maintenance iron therapy for hemodialysis-dependent chronic kidney disease patients.

Phoenix WinNonlin: Comparing Administration Methods
Phoenix WinNonlin’s pharmacokinetic analysis compared two administration methods for this iron therapy in chronic kidney disease patients, supporting a favorable safety profile. Paired with AI PK Reports, Phoenix WinNonlin can help turn an analysis into a complete PK document in minutes rather than days, within a Phoenix platform that has trained more than 9,000 people.
