Publication: Applied Clinical Trials

In part 4 of this Applied Clinical Trials interview, “Building Smarter Trials with Bayesian Statistics,” biostatistics expert David Morton discusses how Bayesian methods are reshaping the design and analysis of clinical trials of investigational drugs. Unlike traditional statistical approaches that rely only on data collected during a study, Bayesian statistics allow researchers to incorporate prior knowledge—such as earlier studies or expert insights—into their analyses.

This approach can make clinical trials more flexible and efficient. This is especially valuable in areas like rare diseases or urgent public health situations, where data may be limited or time is critical.

Overall, Bayesian statistics offer a powerful way to make clinical trials faster, more informative, and better suited to modern research challenges.
