Samer is a pharmacometrics expert with over two decades of experience in model-informed drug development. He recently rejoined Certara as Senior Director, Application Scientist — a role that brings together his deep modeling expertise and his longstanding passion for making pharmacometrics more accessible through technology.

Over his career, Samer has supported more than 100 projects across 40+ clients — from early-stage startups to major pharmaceutical companies and global health organizations including the Gates Foundation. His work has contributed to regulatory approvals at the FDA, EMA, PMDA, Health Canada, and China across rare diseases and pediatric indications. He is the author of 60+ peer-reviewed publications.

Before rejoining Certara, Samer served as a Full Professional Researcher at the UCSF Savic Lab, where he contributed to population PK/PD, clinical outcomes and risk stratification in tuberculosis research. His earlier Certara tenure included leadership of pharmacometrics teams in Montreal, Cairo and Cape Town.

Samer holds a PhD and MSc in Pharmaceutical Sciences (Pharmacometrics) from the Université de Montréal, with additional training in biostatistics and pharmacy.
A dedicated educator and R package developer, he has long championed tools that let scientists spend less time on syntax and more time on science — a vision that AI-assisted modeling now brings closer than ever.
