Learn About The Simcyp Workshops

The model-based approach to various aspects of drug development is rapidly being adopted by many of the leading pharmaceutical companies and has been identified by the FDA as a valuable tool to improve efficiency in drug development. These workshops focus on the optimal use of compound-specific in vitro and in vivo data, together with system-specific information, to simulate and understand drug behavior in various target populations. This integrated approach informs decisions related to Investigational New Drug (IND) and New Drug Applications (NDA) and assists with the conduct and optimal design of clinical studies. The ultimate aim is to improve the quality of submissions for regulatory approval.

Our workshops are relevant to senior level managers as well as scientists working in the fields of drug metabolism, ADME, clinical pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, PBPK and PK/PD, both in industry or in academia and research institutes. There is a focus on facilitating communication and interaction between pre-clinical in vitro groups and those responsible for the conduct of early clinical studies. The courses provide a solid grounding in model-based approaches and are not aimed solely at individuals who have hands-on experience.

On-site Education

The Simcyp on-site education program provides bespoke simulator-training sessions at the client’s site. The program caters for small groups of scientists with specific training requests and support, through to larger workshop-style sessions which will be tailored to your specific requirements.

The 1-2 day events can incorporate the following:

  • Introductory or specialised simulator training
  • Focused workshops covering key topics, and current trends, in model-based drug development
  • Professional guidance through the hands-on exercises, providing experience and familiarity with practical applications of the simulator
  • Face-to-face support for internal Simcyp working groups

The program is resourced by experienced members of the Simcyp R&D Team who have extensive experience in developing customised material for, and tutoring at, the Simcyp workshops. Experience in multiple consultancy projects and the provision of expert scientific support will ensure that all clients receive a specialised and invaluable education program.

Prior to arranging the on-site education program, two of Simcyp’s Principal Scientists, Dr Devendra Pade and Dr Matthew Harwood, work closely with clients to assess their needs and ensure the most effective format and material is provided for the education program.

With 14 years of experience in developing the Simcyp Simulator, they have in-depth knowledge on the functionality, utility and scope of the Simcyp platform. This combination of experience means they are perfectly placed to provide high quality tutoring on the application and future potential of the Simulator in drug development.

Online Education

Simcyp has produced a series of short, informative videos which focus on various aspects of Simcyp Science and provide demos and practical tips for using the Simcyp Population-based Simulator. The material serves as a refresher for experienced users as well as being suitable for new users, or those who wish to become familiar with recently implemented features. Each video typically covers one specific topic and runs for just a few minutes allowing viewers to concentrate on the most relevant material and dip in and out at their leisure.

This growing resource is available through the members’ area of this website.

Recordings of recent webinars and the Simcyp free ADME tools can also be accessed through the members’ area. Currently, the e-learning program is restricted to Simcyp Simulator users and interested parties from within Consortium member companies.
