Dr Will Redfern joined Certara in April 2019 as Vice President, Quantitative Systems Toxicology & Safety (QSTS). The mission of the QSTS Team is to apply computational approaches to assess the safety of pharmaceuticals and other chemicals. Will obtained a first class honours degree in pharmacology (University of Sunderland, UK) followed by a PhD in the field of cardiovascular reflex modulation (University of Manchester, UK), then undertook a post-doctoral fellowship on central cardiovascular control (University of Birmingham, UK). He is an experienced safety pharmacologist, having worked at Syntex, Quintiles and AstraZeneca, spanning a 33-year period. Will has authored/co-authored over 40 papers, review articles and book chapters, and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology and of the British Pharmacological Society, a Diplomate in Safety Pharmacology and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Manchester. He received the Distinguished Service Award (2014) and the Technological Innovation Award (2018) from the Safety Pharmacology Society and is its former President (2017).
