Leila received a PhD from the Department of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science and the Department of Plant Systems Biology (PSB/VIB) at Ghent University, Belgium. She has more than 9 years’ experience in mathematical and statistical modeling, computer programming, population pharmacokinetic modeling, simulation and estimation, as well as preclinical and clinical data analysis.
After her PhD, Leila continued her research at the Université de Montreal at a post-doctoral level in the field of pharmacometrics. She did research about quality assessment and improvement of limited sampling strategies for accurate estimation of the therapeutic related indices which is part of a drug related modeling problems. She also worked on PopPK modeling and data analysis of the different drugs with immediate release, extended release and combination of both in collaboration with local pharmaceutical companies. Moreover she also worked on comprehensive and automated data manipulation, simulation, estimation and analysis using Matlab, R, Phoenix and NONMEM. She also has a solid understanding of mathematics and methodology used in NONMEM.
Leila joined Certara in March 2016 and is responsible for PK and PK/PD modeling and analyses, dose-response modeling and reporting using state-of-the-art methods and software. She performs compartmental PK/PD modeling in various phases of drug development. Some of her programing skills are: Phoenix, R, NONMEM, Pirana, Matlab, Fortran, C/C++, S-Plus, Latex, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Visual Studio, Monolix, and PopDes.
