Director of Business Development - Certara

 

Job Objectives:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the sale of the Certara Portfolio of Software Products in the Western US and report to the SVP of Global Sales and Marketing. Responsibilities include all aspects of territory and account management, managing C and VP level relationships, developing sales and marketing plans, analyzing marketing trends, providing input to improve sales tools, accurate forecasting and reliable and timely closure of deals to deliver to forecasted bookings.  Territory includes key named accounts and a geographic territory in the Western US territory with a focus on the PK/PD modeling, Safety/Tox, R&D Informatics, Computer Aided Drug Design (CADD) and Medicinal Chemistry groups.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Meet/exceed quota by booking new/renewal software licenses and deployment projects.
  • Develop senior level relationships with key decision makers including PhD scientists, IT and senior management teams in drug R&D.  Meet with customers to develop awareness of Certara’s portfolio.  Engage in strategic discussions to offer a solutions based approach to supporting clients’ needs.
  • Accurately record all client communications and opportunity updates in sales force automation system (SalesForce.com).  Accurately update forecast on a weekly basis.  Manage and build a rolling pipeline of 2.5X software quota.
  • Gather market intelligence and relay to senior management in order to improve offerings and communication for local market needs.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong consultative sales skills. 
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate market dynamics and develop a strategic sales plan to guide resource investment.
  • Ability to gain access to new accounts and evangelize new strategic solutions. 
  • Ability to develop productive relationships at CxO, VP and Director level.
  • Industry knowledge of critical issues in the drug R&D process and a strong network of contacts in the industry. 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years successful account management experience in the pharmaceutical industry. 
  • BS degree, MBA preferred. 
  • Track record of consistent quota attainment

Travel Required:

  • 40-60%
